Notes: Each team and knight gets a grab-bag in their team color, tied with a bright bow, with a glittery question mark on the front! Inside, you'll find a random assortment of 1 or 3 ticket prizes (like a handful of jumping jacks and a small bag of popcorn). If you're a loser team, there will also be a noisemaker that says WINNER!!! that gives a memory and sprays confetti when blown (3 uses). 1/3 used

What we learned:
-This memory connects memory 14 and memory 1
-Kida's jokes are still lame
-People to avoid include Izaya and Shizuo (I guess I do a bad job since they're in my other memories)

-So my name humiliated me in lower school... But Kida's the one who told me to live up to it

What this means:
This ties in as the last memory of Mikado's first day, all gotten out of order. It fills in some gaps and makes him wonder why he is dealing with Izaya and Shizuo when he's been told by Kida to avoid them. Also it gives him some backstory on how he was teased over his name as a kid, and how he worries about it being flashy. It also tells him Kida told him to live up to his name and that he's been working hard to be someone who fits the name he has--thus the top grades and so on.

It's a good memory with good feelings, being with Kida is relaxing and helps him feel secure and happy.

What this means:
It's just another segment of the first day settling into Ikebukuro, more touring the city and meeting the locals. Though he doesn't know it in the memory, Karisawa and Yumasaki will be reoccurring characters in Mikado's life, and are themselves members of the Dollars.

What we learned:

-Anri... She has a katana again...
-She saved me from those thugs but it's still something we can't talk about?

What this means:
This one is big and horrible. It's the second half of one of his most traumatizing memories to date, and it doesn't get better. Waking up in pain and confusion to find the girl he likes standing over him and the downed thugs, watching her wield a katana, and knowing she had to save him... Not a good feeling. Not only that, but he knows he's dragging her into further danger and she will most likely have to protect him again if they have any chance of rescuing the kidnapped girls.

These are horrible, unpleasant feelings. Also of note is, in this and the previous memory, he hasn't slept in over 24 hours and he's been having shock after shock to his emotions, not to mention suffering a physical beating that left him unconscious and only without broken bones out of luck. It's been an unpleasant and intense day and probably his mental and emotional state reflect that confusion and high distress.

if you only wind it partway and trigger it, you get a bunch of really confusing colors and images that make no real sense; you can't even tell if it's really your memory or not.

What this means:
This is just the continuation of memory 6 with further info dump on Ikebukuro and street gangs and Kida being a dork. Reinforced feelings of friendship and trust in Kida--things aren't scary when Kida's around.

What this means:
Seriously this is trivial fluff. It's funny and adorable with "Kanra" getting jealous and sulky but really it tells us nothing. Shark gets to learn the screen names of some of his chat buddies.

What this means:
So a tendency to try to stop bullies is a normal thing for Mikado. Good to know. Also sad/pathetic to know he's always SUCKED AT IT oh well. And this Izaya guy is um... Um. Wow. That was a thing. And Sonohara-san is pretty ///

So it's a significant interaction with Izaya and Anri but doesn't impact Mikado in Aather too much except more "Yep my life is weird."

What this means:
It's a small segment but it's a huge info dump. This is incredibly significant because it contains the founding of Dollars, which in itself at the time was a trivial positive, and slowly over time built into a huge thing and a huge part of Mikado's life. For one, realizing that Dollars was first an internet prank before it was a gang is going to explain a lot to Shark, and also relieve him a little. It might increase his tendency for pranks and mischief a little while claiming ~he had no part in it~

For another it will also explain how the internet prank went from harmless fun to a real world gang, and why, if he's the founder of the group, the members of the gang don't know that, and don't listen to him. It really truly is a group without rules. And it's very existence is a little strange and amiss.

Even though he can tell there's problems with it, this will increase his affection for an attachment to Dollars as his creation, since up until now in his memories he hasn't understood it or why he's involved with it or why he even started it or stays with it. It may also feed a bit of arrogance and secret feelings of superiority (and a little darker things) in him. Over all, it explains a lot and anchors a bit of more of his world into "oh that's why" things are as they are. It also makes memory 8 more infuriating and more helpless.

What this means:
Gosh this is a huge one. It brings up way more questions than it answers. Why is Kida in a gang fight? Why is mousy, shy Sonohara, his fellow class rep there? Why does she have a katana? Why is Kida covered in blood is that his own blood? WHY DOES HE EXPECT TO SEE THEM FACING OFF AGAINST EACH OTHER? What is even going on here guys?!?! There is a moment where it's bad feelings and suspicion which is immediately blown away by "I love these two people and I am so fucking concerned for them and everything is crazy, I just want them to be safe and will do anything for that goal."

He might end up crying at the end of the memory, or close to it. Simply because it's really emotional and a hell of a lot of whiplash in confusion, fear, anxiety, panic, anger and at the end a huge wash of love and relief and my friends my friends my friends!!

This is the climax of book 3 so obviously there's a lot of feelings and a lot going on. But the take away of it is a huge protective urge for his friends, and a huge amount of relief that they're (relatively) alright, and just a lot of mushy good feelings at the very end.

It's a significant negative because of all the fear and panic and confusion leading up to the end. It's a really complicated set of feelings for sure, and without context it's even more confusing. It'll leave him going ???? What was that?! about it for a while about Kida and Anri especially.

Not too much, just a cute slice of life moment with complicated emotions for Anri. Definite reveal that he is very into Anri and also that he is very blocked about doing anything about it. ~Just friends~. Also another Aoba memory, the kid seems harmless if weird...?

It was the first time any definite 'change' took place in Ryuugamine Mikado's heart. )

Things we learned:
-Some girls are being kidnapped? One of them is my classmate!
-I don't even know her well but This Is Wrong
-I am trying to stop this!
-W-wait this is Dollars? Aren't they my gang?!
-Oh. I see. Dollars has no rules...
-Pain. A lot of pain. Holy crap I'm getting the shit kicked out of me.

What this means:
HAHAH this is such a major one for Mikado. It's the proper unlock of his yandere feelings, if only in part. Up until now in Aather he's never really looked down on anyone as inferior in any way, but from now on it's possible if others piss him off enough or are counter to his beliefs/ideals enough, he will view them with contempt. Because sanity.

The memory itself is a huge deal. It's part of a chain of incidents that contain most of his Significant Negative memories, and ends up with him choosing violence over pacifism as a way of problem solving, which is his huge and major shift in the middle of the series. He won't quite be at Violence is Acceptable by this memory, that's later, but it'll certainly make him a little more open to it.

This is also his first memory of being directly hurt and truly helpless. For all he tried to save those girls, all he managed was being beaten up himself. There's a lot of information in this memory so I may add more to this as I look over it again later, but in short, this is the beginning of the turning point from Moekado, the nice guy, pacifistic idealist, to Bosskado, the crazy yandere gang leader violent revolutionary.

What this means:
Mikado has no idea how he ended up in that situation or why those men were fighting or who Shizuo is other than someone Masaomi told him was dangerous! Izaya he's remembered before and they seemed to be on speaking terms. And Anri he knows is a classmate, but why they were all together is a mystery. All he knows is THAT SITUATION WAS SCARY but, also maybe, exciting?

This is his first official meeting with Shizuo.
