OKAY THEN.

HAHAH first impression of Kit "What a nice guy." Shortly thereafter "What a nice guy who is reeaaally touchy feely and possessive. Um. Wow. Issues much?" and then "Oh, mind control bugs. Whatever, it's not like I mind too much I guess?" and then "Now he's kind of freaking me out..." and then "Oh god what is this moron doing he's going to get himself killed for me and it's going to be my fault and I can't stop it no! Why?!"

More coherently, he liked Kit from the start. Even crazy darkness'd Kit with all his possessive teamyan, because, well. Shark always felt Kit cared I guess? Despite being extreme. And Shark, let's be honest, doesn't really mind the extreme forms of showing you care. So KEEP CORAL HERDED from Kit was a little exasperating and at times a little alarming and very upsetting, but Shark always thought Kit meant well and had a good heart and was a good person. Kind of why he was all "huh?" when Kit made the joke about awful first impressions because honestly, aside from upsetting Shark that one time in the cabin, it didn't really bother Shark. Clingy and possessive is rather similar to his best friend in canon, even down to smiling over his issues and draping all over Mikado, so really Shark found it all kind of a non issue mostly.

Until Kit got better and tried to rescue him from Judith and suddenly all the danger around wasn't exciting and interesting, it was real and Kit might die (especially right after finding dying Blizzard) and then Shark went from kind of derpy "everything is interesting" to extremely possessive and protective very fast.

Kit's one of the people Shark's had the most interaction with, so by that nature he's already one of Shark's most important people. This is on top of being in Coral so. Kit means a lot to Shark! Shark trusts him, but he also thinks he's very stupid (not in general stupid, he thinks Kit is smart, but survival!stupid). Shark doesn't mind their incredibly dumb arguments about just about everything, actually to him that's just kind of their dynamic, so he never resents Kit's disagreement or opinion as it differs from his own. What DOES concern him is the worry that Kit's point of view is going to get him into (more) unnecessary trouble and danger in the future, and that Kit will be too stubborn to listen if Shark ever has anything to contribute that might get them out of it--for example, surrendering to Judith where Kit refused to go along.

Shark's also kind of, by nature and inclination, a leader. Kit seems to more or less by the spokesman of Coral, in terms of taking action. Shark doesn't want to replace Kit at that, but his natural inclination is to butt heads with him a lot because they really just honestly do not see eye to eye on method, means or motive--somehow they want the same thing and have completely diverging ideas of the way to go about it, and Shark is not inclined to be quiet about his opinions. Even in canon, though he's more soft spoken about it a lot, Mikado is quiet but firm, he has backbone to back his decisions and he's hard as hell to sway.

The difference for Shark and Mikado is Mikado hesitates, reasons, and deliberates a hell of a lot more before deciding on things, and Shark is a bit more impulsive and intuitive, partly because with so little information and past to go on, he has little choice but to be decisive on a shorter timeframe. He can either go with the flow or make half-informed choices. It's also why he may not be quite as implacable in arguing with Kit over things, because Kit has more experience and knowledge, so Shark does trust and rely on that. He just more or less disagrees with how Kit goes about many things.

I don't know. He really really likes/loves/values Kit as his friend/family, he admires Kit's bravery and strength and enjoys Kit's humor and resolve and sense of fun. But he wants to smack Kit for being stupid a lot and has no plans to let Kit run around doing as he pleases. Though he's also not sure what to do to convince Kit that sometimes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, when it comes to doing things cautiously.

So I guess basically Kit is really important to him and also really frustrates him, but that doesn't make Kit any less important at all. And yeah he has a lot of yan feelings towards Kit in particular because of that fight with Judith.

Reverse me.
