Shark's relationship with his team by member (work in progress)
Kit (Kaito): Kit is probably Shark's best friend in Aather, even considering Kazuki and Kida, Kit is the person Shark feels the most on the level with and most equal to working with. Early on he had to fight Kit tooth and nail for this equality, because Kit tries to protect his teammates, but at this point he sees it as entirely mutual, and is satisfied with where he stands with Kit. Kit is both the reason Shark finds lying INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING and also resigns himself to liarfacing a lot and has learned to smile and ignore his own trauma. That said he's probably more truthful and willing to be truthful with Kit about anything, especially things that scare him, then he is with literally anyone else.
Kit is basically the person Shark feels most open with on Coral, for some strange reason. Probably to do with shared experiences and a lot of yelling. Shark trusts Kit with his life and his thoughts and feelings, completely. He admires Kit.
Dragonfly (Hikaru): Sometimes Dragonfly STILL baffles Shark, but Dragonfly is one of Shark's biggest influences in the department of silly coping. Dragonfly is a weird rich kid but he also knows how to be a normal kid and Shark loves this about him. They can do dumb normal kid things like argue and be theatrically silly and have prank wars. Shark is incredibly protective of Dragonfly, but doesn't see Dragonfly as weak. Dragonfly isn't a weird person like himself and Kit, but somehow he still manages to be cuddly, silly, interesting and fun. Shark doesn't know all that much about his past or world and has never felt like he needs to, because in a way he just kind of takes Dragonfly's existence for granted.
When it comes to hugs, cuddles or pranks Dragonfly's the expert and Shark really enjoys being teenage boys with Dragonfly, including prank wars and petty prank grudgefights. He's pretty sure Kit and Dragonfly are exactly like what he'd want in brothers if he had brothers.
Cub (Sakutarou): Cub was someone Shark was really protective over. If Cub were still around Shark would apologize to him for being so overprotective, but at the time Cub was on the team Shark hadn't really realized what protecting people who want to help was like, and how bad it was. To Shark, Cub is someone who lives in a happy delusion, and though it's cute, it also worried him. He loved Cub a lot, and wanted Cub's happy world of smiles to be real, even if he didn't believe in it. Cub represented wanting to protect Coral, in Shark's heart.
Rabbit (Ayame): Shark never had too many interactions with Rabbit but some of the ones he had subtly influenced him a hell of a lot. After the elevator game where he got in a fight with the team early on, she was very reasonable. She wasn't overly comforting and she didn't yell. She was just... Reasonable. To Shark that struck very deeply, and ever since he's seen her as someone reliable, if a little intimidating. Though he never got to know her deeply, he developed a sense of deep trust for her just on his impressions of her. When she left it shook him badly, because to Shark she was like a solid rock that he was sure would mean Coral would recover from anything, as long as they had her as an anchor. He has no idea how to talk to her, and never has, but she's someone he respects greatly.
Fawn (Chuck): Fawn was like an older sister or a young aunt or some kind of really cool, pretty, hip, motherly nurturing figure. Where Rabbit was distant and reasonable, Fawn was warm and personable, and Shark felt like he could cry on her. She was there to bake a pie or give a hug or lecture or be silly and he loved her for how amazing she was. She tolerated all the silly boys and made him feel welcome, loved and accepted even when he was dumb. He wanted to protect her from bad things, and he wanted her to be happy. He misses her when he feels lonely, because she would always hug him when he most needed it, and he's never met someone he considers as dearly as a sister like her since.
Mouse (Nezumi): Probably the only person close to Fawn in ability to be comforting, in Shark's opinion. Even if Mouse is a tsundere and ridiculous and a loser, when push comes to shove Mouse can be the most considerate and caring. He'll read a book out loud or sing his disney princess song or just be very Mouse and it'll make Shark feel a lot better. But Mouse is much easier to tease and banter with. Mouse is someone Shark likes a lot, finds frustrating sometimes, and ultimately will always love dearly. For all Mouse's being a loser about feelings, Shark trusts him to do the right thing, to take care of people, to be whatever he needs to be in the moment, and in turn Shark always wants to be his friend and teammate. He ships Mouse and Dandelion really hard even if he knows it's not exactly normal as far as relationship dynamics go, but honestly Mouse needs someone who can keep him on his toes. Mouse deserves all the relentless love and bullying and Shark hopes to always help give it to him.
Dove (Lenalee): Shark never got close to Dove but he respected her a ton. She was practical, no nonsense, sweet, strong, kind (and beautiful) and he probably had a mild crush on her. She was cool and admirable and he didn't know how to talk to her all the time, but he did think he could totally rely on her if need be. He was said he didn't get to know her well before she left, but he's never thought she couldn't handle herself. To Shark, Dove was someone he was sure he could count on or talk to if he needed to.
Nightingale (Rilleinne (sp?)): Shark started off not exactly liking Nightingale. He didn't dislike her either, but she baffled him and he didn't know how to deal with her. He thought she was a brat and naive and he wasn't at all sure what to do from there. Somehow though, he became aware of how cute she was, and beyond just wanting to protect her as a member of Coral, he really became attached to her as a person. He wasn't good at learning about her, but he did love her and see her as a really sweet girl who needed a family, and he wanted to be part of her family. To Shark, anyone who hurt her would never be forgiven, and even though they had yelling arguments at times, it was mostly because he cared deeply about her, and still very much does. Every instance of seeing her hurt stabbed him in the heart. Even by the time she left though, he still found her baffling. He's no good at baffling rich kids and he's not great at girls either so combined Nightingale often left him confused in a cute way. HOW... DEAL? He loves her a lot even if she was confusing, she's a good person in his mind, and a wonderful teammate.
Canary (Polka): Canary is the one who reminded Shark that protecting people for the sake of feeling good about it is a crappy thing to do. Every since she reminded him of this he's done his best to make sure new teammates know they can have a say in choices made by the team in bad games or situations, that they aren't useless dead weight or something (but they also don't HAVE t participate). Shark respects Canary's strength and ability greatly, and he thinks she's an incredible and strong person. He is so so proud to call her his teammate, because she's really cool and really cute, everyone should be jealous!! But he also finds her habits of hiding her pain and not talking frustrating. He wishes he knew how to talk to her, to comfort her, to make her feel like she can be open with him or with Coral. He hasn't forgotten she said she's dying, and the idea scares and angers him; someone like Canary shouldn't be dying, she's young and she's strong and that's not fair at all. Shark respects her and her opinions and listens to what she has to say, because he knows she will be reasonable even when he isn't, it's something he's grateful for.
Lizard (Hizumi): He was around so briefly but Shark liked him a lot! He thought it was nice for Canary to have someone come around the same time she did and he's sad Lizard left Canary. He also found Lizard interesting, someone who took things at a pace Shark could recognize wasn't ordinary, but who also seemed like a fun person to be around. Lizard was cheeky, friendly and cute, but Shark thought he had the potential to be very reliable.
Angelfish (Joshua): Shark is still not sure what to make of him! Angel's an interesting guy who seems to keep his own council a lot, doesn't reveal what he's thinking, and is obviously on a different emotional wavelength. But he seems reasonable, he banters well, and he has a good sense of tactics. Shark likes him, but he also sees him as an enigma right now. He recognizes Angel has the potential to be a bit of an asshole but plenty of teammates have had that trait and Shark finds him mostly interesting.
Starling (Tena): Starling is loud and hissy like a puffed up kitten, kind of like Nightingale a bit when she arrived. Shark is still bad at dealing with girls and has no idea what to do with loud a lot, but he thinks Starling is a bit of a brat but someone with a very good heart. He's come to the conclusion that he could probably really respect and like her now that he's seen a bit more of her, even if she still baffles him a lot, he believes she's a really good person.
Robin (Dick): Robin is fun and adventurous and apparently the same person as that guy on Emerald. Weird! But also Batman's sidekick! COOL! That aside he doesn't know Robin well enough to say much yet, but his impression is that Robin is impulsive and reckless, so a bit worrying, but fun and therefor probably easy to get along with.
GOD I FEEL LIKE I FORGOT SOMEONE DID I???
Kit (Kaito): Kit is probably Shark's best friend in Aather, even considering Kazuki and Kida, Kit is the person Shark feels the most on the level with and most equal to working with. Early on he had to fight Kit tooth and nail for this equality, because Kit tries to protect his teammates, but at this point he sees it as entirely mutual, and is satisfied with where he stands with Kit.
